Fuck yes, I love Remus in this. (Is that a weird comment coming from someone from Team Sirius to another Team Sirius member?) What I just meant is that I've read enough fics where Remus gets rejected and mopes around to last me a lifetime, and this was a refreshing change. I like Sirius being unsure and scared of his feelings for Remus, and I like it that Remus is strong enough to convince him that there's nothing to be scared of. I love the dialogue between the Marauders, too. Intimate and sometimes abusive as boyish friendships are. Very nice!
(Ah! I am finally replying to comments!)
I'm so glad you love Remus in this! I don't think it's weird at all for Team Sirius to love Remus; after all Sirius does! ;) I really enjoyed writing Sirius as being unsure of his feelings for Remus—I'm so used to writing him as sure of his feelings so this was a pleasant change for me, as well! I'm so glad it worked for you.
The interactions between Sirius and Remus were so sweet. I like that Sirius is so unsure and that change is frightening to him - it really comes across how young they are and the fear of messing things up.
I think my favorite line was when Sirius comments that while James is his best friend, Remus knows his secrets. I think that really captures the dynamics and the difference between friendship and love.
I'm glad you enjoyed the dynamics between friendship and love; I was definitely trying to show the distinction between the two relationships which is a big reason why James featured so heavily. I'm very glad you enjoyed the story. I hope you enjoy my late comment just as much. ;)
I love this glimpse into their relationship! They're both so well-written and loved seeing the give and take between Remus and Sirius. I especially enjoyed when Sirius took Remus' scarf by accident. Him toying with the scarf was too cute; a whole fic should be written in honor of that scarf now!
I also just wanted to say that I especially liked the start of this fic. The battle was really enjoyable and intense!
Thank you, thank you! I love the bits with the scarf as well—I have a bit of a thing for scarves. ;)
I'm very glad you enjoyed the action scene at the beginning. I love writing battles and action sequences and it always feels good to know I got it right!
I really enjoy the idea that Sirius is frightened of change; the more I thought about it, the more in-character it felt to me. I'm so glad the whole fic worked for you (and that it was hot!). I do love writing these boys. (I also love replying to comments 3 months late.)
this was so good! and it was so remus too. i loved him in this. too often we see him as weak or unsettled but he had a real quiet strength here that sirius really needed. i loved sirius here too and think that you wrote him perfectly. i like to see his softer and more unsure side and you described that part very very well. this was really a great story.
Yay! Remus has quiet strength! I really wanted them to be very much equals in this because, as you noted, Remus is often portrayed as being the weaker of the two. I felt like I tipped the scales a bit, but still left them as equals. Job done! ;)
And thank you so much for reading and commenting.
This was really touching. I thought you wrote them all nicely, and I loved the last couple lines. Thanks for this :)
Thank you for reading and commenting! (And I apologize for the late reply!)
It's heart-breaking! I love the Marauders' dynamics you set, the edge because of the war, the live-fast mentality to James and Remus, and Sirius being the opposite: not wanting things to change, because it might mean death, anyway. I love that Remus is the brave one here; that he convinces Sirius they might just be worth it. It touches me, because we know they are living on borrowed time and, soon, everything will go pear-shapped. You showed these feelings so well. Bravo!
I'm so glad you love that Remus is the brave one here; I very much wanted to capture and explore Sirius's insecurities and I'm so glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed that!
One of the things I like best about the Marauders era is that no matter how happy they are in the moment, things will go pear-shaped. I think that really adds a level of tension to the happiness that makes everything more interesting.
Thank you so much for your comment (and I apologize for replying to such a lovely comment so late).
I loved this! Gorgeous characterizations and lovely writing. *hugs insecure Sirius*
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and insecure!Sirius. ♥
Awwwwwwww, this is just lovely. I really love the dynamic and how you made the build up sweet and gentle. Really nice characterizations as well.
Thank you for the lovely comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the dynamic and characterization. ♥
Oh! I really liked this. My brain is a bit fuzzy with illness so I'm not coherent to leave good comments but I loved how scared Sirius was but that eventually he gave in like to a magnetic pull or something. I also love Remus, that he's so accepting but hopeful, still. Wonderful! x
Sirius didn't stand a chance at resisting; we all know that. ;)
Thanks for commenting and I just want to say that I really enjoyed being on Team Sirius with you! ♥
This was lovely :) Remus was a bit like a rock here, unwavering and strong. Just the sort of person Sirius needs. ♥
Remus is always what Sirius needs. ♥
Thanks for commenting (sorry my reply was so late!)
lj ate my first comment. I really liked confused Sirius and Remus asking if he would be left with Moody was great. I really like your title, too. Great story
Hee, I love the line about Remus being left with Moody. I'm so glad someone pointed it out! Thank you!
I'm so glad you called out the dynamics. That was one of the most important parts of the fic for me to convey "correctly," and I'm glad I seem to have done so! Thank you so much for your comment.

I really like how Sirius recognizes how much he fears being alone and how all the changes are destabilizing him. And Remus is awesome here for taking it all in stride and being the one to say give it a shot.
Sirius always seems the most unsettled and insecure to me, and I really like exploring that. I'm glad you think Remus is awesome here; I wanted him to be awesome. ;)

this is an excellent read! You really captured the uncertainty that comes from a shared intimate moment between friends. Sirius was absolutely spot on in this insecurity! Loved it. Well done.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the fic and found Sirius to be spot on in insecurity. :D
Awww! ♥ This was beautiful and touching. I loved it!
Thank you! Your comment is beautiful and touching. :D
This was very sweet with beautiful characters. I liked it very much in many ways.
I like your comment in many ways, but mostly in that it exists. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. ♥
This is so wonderful! One of my favourites. I love getting together fics and this is warm and sweet and funny and they are all such BOYS! I love it!
Thank you, thank you. I feel honored that it's one of your favorites. ♥
I think this is one of my favs so far! Didn't realise I like insecure!Sirius so much lol. Sirius' fear of change and yet how he keeps being drawn back to Remus felt so real and I love their conversation at the end. Remus left with Moody had me chuckling :) Can't wait to see who you are mystery writer - will have to stalk you if I'm not already ;)
Insecure!Sirius is kind of a wonderful thing; I'm glad I could help you realize it. ;) (And I'm so glad people are pinging on that final conversation—I had so much fun writing it.)
Here I am! The mystery is solved (if you didn't see it on the reveals list forever ago). All my fic is posted at what_works
if you want to poke any of it.

Aww :) A really lovely fic.
A really lovely comment! Thank you for reading and commenting!
Lovely fic! I really like how James' and Remus' reactions to Sirius' near miss in the beginning are so eloquent of two equally strong yet different kinds of love. I also love your skittish Sirius and patient understanding Remus, somewhat of a refreshing change from the timid Remus and oblivious Sirius often portrayed during the Hogwarts era.
I'm so glad you liked their reactions of Sirius's near miss. I played with those quiet a bit, actually, trying to get the tone of each just right. I'm glad it worked!
I have to admit, I do enjoy an oblivious Sirius, but writing the skittish version was really a lot of fun. And Remus being patient and understanding just feels obvious, really. ;)
Thank you for commenting and I apologize for the late response.
I am a warm puddle of goo. Honestly, what this did to me. This is so well written and beautiful and sad and then happy, but not quite. Everything feels real and their interactions together are just perfect because they aren't, you know? They're people and you've done a really great job of making that come across.
Puddle of goo, folks! Please go around the other way. *sets up signs so no one will step on you*
Thank you for your utterly kind and wonderful comment. I'm glad the story and characterization and interactions worked for you so well. You've really made my day (again—since I read this comment two months ago when it first came in).
Yay! It was fantastic. Not overly fluffy but fluffy enough. I liked your Remus a lot and insecure!Sirius is so cute:) And I really like the title. It fits perfectly. I really enjoyed this!
Thank you for reading and commenting. I'm glad it was a little fluffy (fluffy is not usually my thing, but knowing I can writing something a little fluffy is nice!).
